Lisa Ann Burnham, 62, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at her residence following an extended illness surrounded by her loving family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 19, 2024 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Randy Sellers officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 until 2:45 p.m. on Friday and following the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, P O Box 6704, Hagerstown, Maryland, 21741 for Ovarian Cancer or the Wiregrass Humane Society, P O Box 1045, Dothan, Alabama, 36302.
Lisa was born in Castro Valley, California on August 21, 1961, to Harold and Sybil Burnham. She lived in California, Michigan and Mobile before moving to Dothan in 1970.
Lisa was a 1979 graduate of Northview High. She later graduated from Troy University where she received her BS degree in Education (grades 1-9) in 1982, and in 1990 she received her MS degree in elementary Education. Lisa later earned her Gifted and Special Education degree at USA in Mobile. Lisa began her lifetime teaching career in 1986 in the private school sector in Dothan. She was employed with Dothan City Schools from 1989 until her retirement in October of 2022.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, plants, her pets, and her students who held a special place in her heart. She also loved her teacher friends she made during her career which spanned 36 years.
She is predeceased by her father, Harold Burnham.
Survivors include her daughter, Allyson McLaney (Jeff) of Dothan; a grandson, William McLaney of Dothan; Steve Kinsaul of Dothan; her mother, Sybil Burnham of Dothan; a brother, Mike Burnham (Rosalind) of Opelika; a niece, Lauren Hristov (Nedko) of Auburn; a nephew, Will Burnham (Christine) of Atlanta; an aunt, Peggy Hicks of Dothan; ADPi Sorority Sisters from Troy pledge class of 1979 and all sisters before and after 1979.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dayspring Hospice, especially Rebecca and Erin and a host of family and friends for the loving and compassionate care given to their loved one.
