LIZZIE MAE CARTER
ABBEVILLE… Lizzie Mae Carter, a resident of the Abbeville, Alabama, passed away early Sunday morning, January 28, 2024, at a Dothan hospital. She was 82.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. Saturday February 3, 2024, at St. Peter Baptist Church with Reverend Jesse Nelson officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. prior to the service. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
Lizzie Mae Carter was born to George and Cassie Mae Danzey. She received her education from Henry County Training School. She dedicated her life to the Lord at St. Peter Baptist Church, and for over twenty years, she worked at St. Peter Child Development Center. Her love and passion for children lead her to start her own business, Carter’s Kiddie Care, where she cared for hundreds of children. She took special care of all her children as if they were her own.
Lizzie will be remembered for dedicating her life to taking care of children, and her love for people. She followed the golden rule, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” She was the epitome of selflessness, and taught that it is better to give than receive. Lizzie left a lasting mark on everyone she touched, and will be truly missed.
Along with her parents, Lizzie was preceded in death by a sister, Mamie Hall, and a brother, George Danzey, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, John Henry Carter; her daughters, Alicia Carter, Bridgett Griffin (Lee), and Karen Carter; her step-daughters, Patricia Spann (Robert) and Annette Bean (Willie); her grandchildren, La’Darrien Williams, Jacoby Carter, Robert Spann, Korde Williams, Cornelius Mills, and Calvin Mills; her great-grandchildren, McKenzie Williams, Malaysia Grimsley, Royalty Carter, and Maisen Williams; her sisters, Cassie Garrett and Catherine Danzey; her brother, Willie Frank Danzey (Bobbie); and a host of her nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to give our sincere thanks to everyone for their prayers, thoughtfulness, kindness, and support during this tough time. We thank you for your many expressions of comfort, phone calls, and visits. We appreciate the flowers and gifts we received. May God wondrously bless and keep you.
