Lloyd Bert Pruitt, 79, of Abbeville passed away Friday August 2, 2013 at his son's Dothan residence.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Monday, August 5, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home with Dr. Craig Carlisle officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL, 36303.

Mr. Pruitt was born September 26, 1933 in Etowah County, AL and spent the early part of his life there. He was a 1951 graduate of Etowah County High School. He retired in 1993 from the Southern Company - Farley Nuclear Plant after 36 years of service. He started his career with Alabama Power. He served in the National Guard for 11 years. Since retirement he has enjoyed living at the lake, tending to his yard and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Mr. Pruitt was of the Baptist Faith.

Mr. Pruitt was preceded in death by his parents, Junius Lloyd and Cleo Pruitt, and a brother Billy Jack Pruitt.

Survivors include his wife Peggy Marler Pruitt; sons, Scott Pruitt and Keith (Tracy) Pruitt; grandchildren, Joey Pruitt and Mary Beth Pruitt; his brother, Jerry Pruitt.
