Date of Service In consideration of community health and public safety due to the COVID 19 Virus, graveside services for family and close friends will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm in Sunset Chapel or friends may call Sunset to leave a heartfelt message for the family.

Lola Mae Powell, a resident of Headland, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 23, 2020. She was 79.

Ms. Powell was born on July 9, 1940 in Henry County and lived in Abbeville most of her life. She was very loving and caring. Ms. Powell had a servant’s heart and helped take care of and raise children in the community. She enjoyed working in her flower garden and shopping. Ms. Powell was a member of St. Michael’s AME Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Carlette Butler; her 3 grandchildren, Vakeela (Adrian) Brown, Ashley Butler, and Aaliyah Butler; her 2 great-grandchildren, Tyler Brown and Gabby Brown; her sister, Lola (Dewey) Crawford; her sister-in-law, Snowann Fluellen; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend an acknowledgement to some special women: Amanda Thomas, Lisa Bauman, Tiffany Mckay, Tonja Jones – you will always hold a spot in our hearts.
A special thanks to the staff at Henry County Health and Rehabilitation Center – your care and compassion will not be forgotten.
