Lola Mae Smith Campbell 91 of Dothan known as “Lolie” by those who loved her most went to meet the Lord Friday October 19th, 2012 at Westside Terrace Nursing Home in Dothan.

Born in Eufaula, Ala she was one of 11 children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Amon Clyde Smith & Mattie Ioma Purswell Smith, her husband Monroe Campbell of Dothan, and by 7 other “Smith” brothers RB, Cecil, Don, Curtis, Pete, Gary and James.

She was a long time resident on John D Odom road in Dothan and an active member of Landmark Baptist Church of Dothan.

She had much love for her family and friends, never having a bad day, always a kind word, a big smile and great big hugs to go along with all of her kindness. She loved to work in her garden growing vegetables and roses which she proudly shared with family and friends. One of the highlights of her day was to watch an Atlanta Braves T.V. game while wearing her special Braves jacket.

Her greatest love and appreciation was for her devoted surviving sisters, Annie Clyde Blackman (Floyd) of Dothan, and Jeanette Smith (Jennings) of Wicksburg who devoted themselves to her support and care with much unselfish love in her final years and one loving brother Morris Smith of Zepyrhills, Fl.

Having no children of her own she was the best of all aunts and was much loved by many proud nieces and nephews.

She started her working career as a seamstress at Modern Cleaners in Dothan and later retired from Ansell Manufacturing Company.

The family would like to give special thanks to Covenant Hospice, The Willow Way Wing of Westside Terrance and to all the staff for their care and love.

Pallbearers are Mike Ward, Juston Carpenter, Christopher Ward, Zane Kelly, Brandon Blackman, and Randy Speigner.

Memorial Donations may be made to Convenant Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 3 P.M. Sunday, October 21, 2012 from the chapel Ward Wilson Funeral Home. With Reverend Steve Merritt and Hulon Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home Directing.

The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM, one hour prior to the service.
