HEADLAND…Lomax Ward, a resident of Headland, died late Saturday evening, October 4, 2014, at his daughter’s home in Kinsey. He was 91.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, October 6, 2014, in Gardens of Memory, between Dothan and Headland, with Reverend Joel Laseter officiating. Holman Headland Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends following the graveside services.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Headland United Methodist Church Building Fund, 103 West King Street, Headland, AL 36345.
Mr. Ward, son of the late William Edward Ward and Ozzie Greene Ward, was a native of Geneva County, near Hartford. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ward moved to Headland in 1943 where he owned and operated Lomax Ward Plumbing and Electric Company for a number of years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Headland United Methodist Church and the Curry Woods Men’s Bible Class and was a former member of the Headland Lions Club. Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his wife, Mable Clemmons Ward, three sisters and seven brothers.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Cheryl Raley (Harold), Kinsey; a sister, Nona Pearl Smith, Knoxville, TN; four grandchildren, Shea Calhoun (Jason), Hal Raley (Jessica), Chris Raley (Lisa), and Allison Williams (Jay); seven great-grandchildren, Blake and Emily Calhoun, Amber and Harlee Raley, Chloe Raley, Alicia and Elena Williams; numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Hal Raley, Chris Raley, Jason Calhoun, Jay Williams, Blake Calhoun, and Albert Holloway.
