Lonie Pauline Wood, 89, a long-time Wiregrass resident passed away Thursday, October 17, 2013 surrounded by her family.
Born July 16, 1924 in Dale County, she was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church in Ozark and also attended Memphis Baptist Church. She enjoyed anything in the outdoors including camping and fishing, her gardens and raising rabbits. She also loved playing bingo and most importantly making people happy. She was crowned the 1st Mrs. Ozark Civic Center. The matriarch of her family, Pauline was the last of her generation.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Thomas and Loanie Smith Lamb, her husband James Ray Wood, and her brothers and sisters.
Ms. Wood’s legacy is carried on by her son, James (Vicki) Wood, Texas, her daughters, Dale (Don) Butler, Theodore, AL, Linda (Jon) Kelsey, Ozark, AL, and Rachel (Peter) Mas, Cottonwood, AL; her sister-in-law, Louise Lamb, and 14 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren
Visitation for Ms. Wood will be at 1 PM on Monday, October 21, 2013, at Ward Wilson Funeral Home. Funeral services following at 2:00 PM in the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jim Hill and Brother Roger Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Family will be accepting flowers and donations can also be made to Ozark Health & Rehab (Activities Dept) 312 Bryan Drive Ozark, AL 36360.
