Lorene Hathaway Sullivan of Hartford, AL entered into her Heavenly Home Monday, May 11, 2015. She was 93 years old.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 15, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Hartford with the Rev. Jeremy Sullivan, Rev. Jean Spikes and Rev. Ricky Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Hartford City Cemetery under the direction of Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends and family from 6:00 PM till 8:00 PM Thursday, May 14, 2015 at New Canaan Ministries Church located two miles north of Hartford City Cemetery On Hendrix Rd.
Mrs. Sullivan was born May 22, 1921 in Geneva County to the late William Walter and Mary Elizabeth Hathaway of Black, AL. She was the last surviving member of twelve children. She was also the mother of seven children, in which she made it her life’s commitment to raise and nurture. She loved to have her family, friends, and neighbors over for any and all occasions. Even strangers were invited to enjoy her delicious southern cooking. Mrs. Sullivan also was known for her love of all birds and all kinds of flowers. She was a life-long member of the Hartford First United Methodist Church. She cared for Truett, her husband of 64 years, who preceded her in death after he became disabled with an extended illness.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane (Gerald) of Geneva; six sons, Don (Diane) of Colquitt, GA., Joel (Barbara) of Columbus, OH. Frank (Teresa) of Hartford, Tom (Jan) of Hartford, Phil (Mary Ann) of Dothan, and Sam (Sharon) of Jackson, GA.; 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
