Lou S. Elliott, of Dothan, passed away Monday morning, August 8, 2022 at her residence. She was 71.
Memorial services will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Glover Funeral Home Chapel with Father Steve Miller officiating and Glover Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. on Thursday prior to service time. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wiregrass Area Food Bank “Brown Bag Program", 382 Twitchell Rd, Dothan, AL 36303.
Lou was born March 25, 1951 in Portsmouth, Virginia to Marvin Clifford and Dema Jo Forman Sparks. She lived in Oklahoma, Texas, and Florida before moving to Dothan in 1966. After graduating from Dothan High in 1969 she attended the University of Montevallo and graduated in 1973. While at college, she was a founding member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.
Lou was a homemaker and loved cooking and canning. She enjoyed being out in the country, crafting and cross-stitching. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Matthias Anglican Church.
Lou is predeceased by her parents, a sister, JoAnn Woodall, a brother, Marvin C. Sparks, II and a grandson, Brayden James Elliott.
She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) E. Elliott, Jr. (Capt., US Navy, Ret) of Dothan; a son, Master SGT William E. Elliott, III (Jana) of Wrightstown, NJ; a daughter, Suzanne McMahan (Chris) of Dothan; four grandchildren, Cadence and Elliott McMahan, Liam and Nathanael Elliott; a brother, Robert Z. Sparks (Sonya Marie) of Dothan; a sister, Karen Wilson (Clay) of Dothan.
The family would like to thank Kindred Hospice, nurse Bailey, nursing aid Allyson, Shirley Sellers and Betty Smith for their loving care of Lou.
