LOUISE  POWERS  BARNES


 


ABBEVILLE. . .Louise Powers Barnes, a resident of Abbeville, died early Sunday morning, July 1, 2012, at her home. She was 75.


            Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Monday, July 2, 2012, in the Fellowship Baptist Church with Reverend Tim McCraney and Reverend Ray S. Reiley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church Building Fund, c/o Robb Cleveland, 5651 State Highway 27, Newville, AL. 36353 or Covenant Hospice, 104 Rock Bridge Road, Dothan, AL. 36303.   


            Mrs. Barnes was born in Dale County, near Pinckard, and was reared in the Kelly Springs area, daughter of the late Ewell Wilson Powers and Maude Moody Murphy Powers. She was a 1954 graduate of Midland City High School. Mrs. Barnes lived in Pensacola, Florida thirty-six years before moving to Abbeville in 1990. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church and was a former member of the Olive Baptist Church and the Scenic Heights Garden Club in Pensacola. Mrs. Barnes was retired, due to disability, from State Farm Insurance in Pensacola as a secretary. She was preceded in death by a brother, Hart Powers and two sisters, Rachel Powers and Rochelle Woodham.


            Surviving relatives include her husband of fifty-eight years,  Frank Barnes, Abbeville;  three sons, Allen Barnes and wife, Lisa, Peachtree City, GA; Randy Barnes and wife, Stella, Dothan; and Dennis Barnes and fiance’, Valerie,  Pensacola; a brother, James Powers, Midland City; ten grandchildren.


            Serving as active pallbearers will be the grandsons.
