Louise Taylor Mills Mitchell McKenzie

January 17, 1929 - February 25, 2020

Louise McKenzie, 91, of Dothan, Alabama went to be with our heavenly father on Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Wesley Place on Honeysuckle Assisted Living in Dothan, Alabama.  She was born January 17, 1929, in Forks of the Creek in the Alabama area to the late Franklin Leroy (FL) and Lucy Hart Taylor.  She made her lifelong home in the Dothan, Alabama area.  She was very dedicated to and loved raising and caring for her family, but also flourished at Warner’s Clothing Plant in Marianna, Florida and Bill’s Dollar Store in Blountstown, Florida.  She always had a green thumb and loved her flowers.  Her fantastic old-fashion cooking will be remembered throughout the family, friends, churches, and communities.

She was preceded in death by three husbands, Earl Mills of Marianna, Florida, Raymond Mitchell of Dothan, Alabama, and Ephriam (Mac) McKenzie of Webb, Alabama; two daughters: Barbara Smith and Sarah Webb; one son: Williard "Buddy" Mills; one grandson: Charles McClendon; two sisters & husbands: Geraldine and Glen Watson and Willie Jean and JB Rabon; one brother & wife: Eddie Franklin and Doris Taylor.

She is survived by one daughter, Lynn Mills Burch and husband, Wendell of Cowarts, Alabama; three sisters: Laura Eulene Brogdon Kent of Marianna, Florida, Lucy Clyde Boatman of Grandridge, Florida, and Judy Higginbotham and husband, Louis of Orange Park, Florida; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, and a vast number of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

She was a very high-spirited, dedicated, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved worshipping and attending church - standing strong in her Baptist faith. Her sweet smile, precious laugh, and her beautiful voice will truly be missed but her loving spirit will always live on inside of us. Heaven has gained another Angel but she will always remain in our hearts.

The family will receive friends for a celebration of life at  Family First Funeral Care, 965 Woodland Drive, Dothan, Alabama on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 12:00 noon until the service begins at 2:00 pm with Reverend Jimmy Cook officiating.  Per her final wishes, memorialization will be by cremation.

Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Catholic Social Services,103 Pettus St, Dothan, AL 36301
