Dicky McAllister officiating.  Burial will follow with Sorrells Funeral Home and Crematory of Enterprise directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

Lovie Johnson was born in Dale County on March 22, 1923 to the late Reubin Franklin Walden and Eber Donnell Walden.  Lovie and her late husband, Ernest, were owners of Geneva Grass Company, Inc., which they established in 1957.  They both stayed active in the business well into their 80’s.  Lovie was also a leave replacement for her late sister-in-law, Elsie Walden, at the Bellwood Post Office.  She enjoyed visiting with friends and neighbors while they did their postal business.  She was a long time member of the Bellwood Baptist Church, where her husband, Ernest, served as deacon for many years.  She was the oldest church member up until her death.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest, and her only son, Franklin Johnson (Tim), as well as a brother, Don Walden (Elsie), two sisters, Haskew Moseley (PL), and Frankie Pouncey (Arrie Will).  She and her siblings were very close and visited either face to face, by phone, or by letter almost every day until each of their deaths.

She is survived by two daughters, Sue Thompson (Ron) of Pensacola, FL and Deborah Bowman (Lynn) of Bellwood, AL; a grandson, Jeff Johnson; an granddaughter, Natalie Cook (Blaine) of Panama City Beach, FL; four very special nephews and nieces, Jerry Moseley, David Pouncey, Jenny Sessions (John), and Diane Holton (David); and other extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank her very special caregiver, Jewell Wilkerson.  Jewell and her family have been a part of our family since 1958 when her late father, Willie Boykin, began working with our parents at Geneva Grass Company.  We love you, Jewell.  The family also expresses their appreciation to the Bellwood Baptist Church family for all of their prayers, cards, and visits.  A special thanks to Alacare Home Health and Hospice.  Teresa (Carr), thanks for loving and taking care of Ms. Lovie.  A very special thanks to Fay Ketchem, who was so faithful to keep mama’s hair cut and beautiful.
