The family welcomes you to a Celebration of Life service at 11 am with visitation at 10am on Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
Lucille Prevatt West passed away peacefully at Westside Terrace in Dothan, AL on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at the age of 97.
Lucille was the ninth child born to Charles and Rhoda Prevatt on February 27, 1927 in Ft Myers, FL. Her twelve siblings have all preceded her in death as well as her beloved husband of 74 years, Garland (Tommy) West.
She leaves behind her two sons, Mickey (Debra) West of Robert Lee, Texas and Rick (Lyn) West of Dothan, AL; nine grandchildren: Wendy Garner of Decatur TX, Jeff (Sheryl) Garner of Decatur, TX; Justin (Kayla) West of Decatur, TX; Heather (Cody) Cox of Abilene, TX; Rachel (Eric) Maddox of Enid, OK; Jessica (Shawn) Lincoln of Round Rock, TX; Amanda West of Dothan, AL; Richard (Annsley) West of Springdale, AR and Andrew (Lauren) West of Dothan, AL, eighteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson along with many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and friends.
Lucille exemplified the life and the love of Jesus. She has left a legacy of love that only Heaven will reveal. In Ft Myers she was a faithful member of her churches where she served as a preschool Sunday School teacher for over 20 years. She also taught Awanas and worked in Childrens church. After moving to Dothan in 2003 she and her husband became faithful members of Ridgecrest Baptist Church.
Lucille was known as a prayer warrior among her family and friends. She impacted many lives by her steadfast dedication to her calling and the ministry she was given. To be like Jesus was her goal and now has joined that great cloud of witnesses cheering on those left behind until we, who are in Christ, will join them in heaven someday.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church, Dothan, Alabama.
Special thanks to Southern Alabama Regional Council on Aging, Hutto Towers/Alabama Baptist Retirement Centers, Westside Terrace and Gentiva Hospice.
