Mrs. Lula Mae Hurst Shepard, age 92, of Clayton, Alabama passed away August 24, 2021, at her residence with her loving family by her side.


Graveside services will be held Friday, August 27, 2021, at 3:00 p.m. at Pine Level Baptist Church in Louisville with Reverend Bobby Hagler officiating and Glover Funeral Home of Clayton directing. The family will have a private family visitation.


Flowers will be accepted.


Lula was born April 11, 1929, in Alabama, the daughter of Albert Hurst and Winnie Beasley Hurst. She grew up on a farm and enjoyed canning and cooking fresh vegetables. She loved to serve her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and attending Clayton Assembly of God Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing.


She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Leo Shepard; two brothers, Alford Hurst and Fred Hurst; three sisters, Doris Hutto, Susie Nell Cooper, and Emma Jean Benefield.


Survivors include two sons, Albert Joel Shepard (Terri) of Clayton and Johnny D. Shepard of Sandpoint, Idaho; six grandchildren, Sabrina Carter, Brandon Shepard (Elizabeth), Brent Shepard (Pam), Ashley Russell, Matthew Shepard, Jennifer Rhodes (Chris) and twelve great-grandchildren.


Asked to serve as pallbearers are: Brandon Shepard, Brent Shepard, Bruce Benefield, Steve Benefield, Ashley Russell, and Sabrina Carter.
