SMSGT (RET) Luther Shell Hudspeth of Geneva, Alabama passed away Monday, January 11, 2016. He was 84.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016, in the Liberty United Methodist Church off Hwy 95, North of Abbeville, Alabama with Rev. Steve Skidmore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday, January 13, from 5 until 6 p.m. and also at the church Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m. and continue until service time.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Liberty United Methodist Church Building Fund or the Geneva First Baptist Church Building Fund.
Mr. Hudspeth was born September 21, 1931, in Henry County, Alabama to the late William Hudspeth and Jimmie Mae Palmer Hudspeth Singleton. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and retired after 22 ½ years of service. He later worked with Fleming Foods and retired in September of 1986.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Dan Edwin Hudspeth, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret Hudspeth; two daughters: Diwana Hudspeth Lowe (Ken), Marilyn Hudspeth Shehee (Michael); one son, Michael Hudspeth (Starlene); five grandchildren: Traci Hudspeth Horrach (Wil), Lindsay Shehee Fretts (Travis), Charlsie Shehee Mobley (Page), Rachael Lowe (fiancé Brandon) and Matthew Lowe: three great-grandchildren, Lillian Fretts, Hadley Fretts and Brooke Mobley; one sister, Frances Hudspeth Rich.
