Mack R. Hammond SFC, US Army Retired, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013 at his residence in Daleville. He was 90 years of age.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 in Woodlawn Memory Gardens with Rev. Charles Goldsmith officiating along with full military honors and Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Wednesday at Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m.
Mr. Hammond was born on November 10, 1922 to the late Marshall and Arrie Shows Hammond in McKenzie, Alabama. He was a Veteran of WWII, Korean Conflict and Vietnam. SFC Hammond retired after serving 27 years with the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Kenneth; and granddaughter, Lisa.
Mr. Hammond is survived by his wife of 71 years, Elizabeth "Beth" Dukes Hammond of Daleville; his daughters, Dorothy Barger (H. Richard) of Arlington, TX. , Susan Leppert of Dothan; his grandchildren, Holly, Jesse, Ricky and Luke; also surviving are several great-grandchildren.
Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home in Ozark (334) 774-4551 is in charge of the arrangements. Members of the Dignity Memorial network. Condolences may be offered at www.fuquabankston.com.
