Mae Ethel Newman

Mae Ethel Newman, 67, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. She was born on March 1, 1954, in Midland City, Alabama to R.B. and Essie May Newman.

A celebration of her life will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, February 19, 2022 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 11-12 pm.

Mae was very much a “people person.” She never met a stranger. She always had a smile and a good sense of humor. She loved children and being of help to others. She was an encourager and wanted to make you smile. If she knew your birth date, you were automatically added to her special birthday call list. She was known for her “cake baking ministry”. She would bake any and everyone their favorite cake upon request. She loved God and always shared her faith and a scripture. She accepted Christ and was a member of Light of The World Ministries, Church of God in Christ, in Daleville Al. She was a graduate of Dale County High School and was employed at Ansell Corporation, Sony Magnetic Products, and JCPenney.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Armary Rispress.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her four children, Dereatha L. Hogan, Montgomery, AL, Lavennya S. Newman, Midland City AL, Victor (Trazetta) Newman, Wicksburg AL, and Tamara (Christopher) Baker, Dothan AL; her sister, Evangelist Levon N. (Thomas) Williams, Ozark AL; her two brothers, Johnny J. Newman, Bessemer AL, Quincy C. (Michelle) Newman, Dothan AL; one sister-in-law, Nancy J. Newman, Headland AL; her seven grandchildren, Victor Jr., Victoria, Vincent, Jalia, Skylar, Logan, and Levi; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; two special God-sisters, Melissa (Horace) Jackson and Alice (Richard) Jackson; Dale County Class of 1972 (Peggy, Magalene, and Robbie), Sony Family, and the entire LOWM Church Family.
