Major Alton Don Williams (United States Army, Retired) a resident of Ozark, died Thursday, June 20, 2019.  He was 77 years old.


A memorial service for Mr. Williams will be held 5:00 P.M. Monday, June 24, 2019, from the First United Methodist Church of Ozark with Reverend Dr. Jason Thrower, Reverend Michael Sigler and Reverend Dr. Billy D. Gaither officiating.  Interment will follow with full Military Honors in the Meditation Garden of the First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends Monday in the church one hour prior to service time.


Major Williams was born December 11, 1941 in Regan, Tennessee and grew up in Fullerton, California.  Major Williams joined the United States Army at age seventeen and retired as a Major following twenty years of service.  He then worked at Fort Rucker at Cairns Army Airfield as a flight instructor for thirty-four years.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Ozark where he served on several boards and committees.  He was an avid outdoorsman.


Survivors include his wife, Patricia Williams of Ozark; three sons and daughters-in-law, Corey and Jennifer Williams of Cumming, Georgia, Kevin and Kayli Williams of Birmingham, Alabama, and Thor Williams of Huntsville, Alabama.  He was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren, Dalton Williams, Mackenzie Williams, Conner Williams, Kaleb Williams, Keaton Williams, Merritt Williams, Hamilton Williams, and Courtland Williams.


Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 3054 McGehee Road, Montgomery, Alabama 36111; or to the First United Methodist Church of Ozark Organ Fund, 167 East Broad Street, Ozark, Alabama  36360.
