Major Brentley Richard Borer, (United States Army, Retired), 48, of Ozark, passed away on November 13, 2017, after an automobile accident near his home in Columbia, South Carolina.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M Saturday, December 2, 2017, in the First United Methodist Church in Ozark with Reverend Michael Sigler officiating, Holman Funeral Home and Cremations of Ozark directing. Military Honors will be rendered following the memorial service.
Brent was a 1987 graduate of Carroll High School, and a 1992 graduate of Auburn University earning a degree in mechanical engineering. He had a successful career as a senior engineer, distinguished by his invention of a concealed hinge, for which he was awarded a patent in 2000. He also proudly served his country in the Army Reserves and National Guard. He served in Iraq during the Gulf War flying Apaches and was awarded the Bronze Star. He later served in Bosnia as an advisor to NATO. He recently retired after 20 years of service with the rank of Major.
Brent is survived by his wife, Athena Borer; and daughter, Haylie Borer of Columbia, South Carolina; his parents, Richard and Betty Borer of Ozark; a sister, Lisa Borer McGuffin of Ozark; a niece, Meg McGuffin of Auburn, and an aunt, Glenda Short of Ozark.
