Ronald (Ron) Beltz Jr., 57, of Enterprise, Alabama, died on September 8, 2022, at his home after a brief illness.
Ron was born December 6, 1964, at the US Military Academy Hospital at West Point, New York, the son of Ronald and Carlita Beltz.
He graduated from Bettendorf High School, Bettendorf, Iowa. He continued his education at Augustana College, Rock Island, Illinois graduating in 1988 with an English degree. He met his wife, Rebecca Kammerer at Augustana and married in 1991. He was accepted at the Lutheran School of Theology, Chicago where he received his Masters of Divinity. Later in his career, he earned a Master’s degree in psychology counseling from Texas A&M.
Prior to his commissioning in the US Army, Ron was an ELCA pastor for eight years serving congregations in Columbia City and Michigan City, Indiana. Chaplain Beltz served his country with two combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. He and his family were stationed in Ft. Hood, Texas (2); Illesheim, Germany; Fort Jackson, South Carolina, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois; SHAPE, Belgium; Fort Rucker, Alabama; and Yuma Proving Grounds, Arizona. Major Beltz retired with 20 years of service from the Chaplain Corps, US Army on June 30, 2021.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Kammerer, their children, Katherine and Christopher; mother and father, Ronald and Carlita Beltz; sister, Suzanne (Scott) Heckenlaible; in-laws, Gloria Kammerer and Ron Kammerer; brothers-in-law, Ron (Holly) Kammerer, Jr, Robert (Diane) Kammerer; and Eric (Erica) Kammerer; several nephews and nieces, Jack and Andrew Heckenlaible; Blaze, Caden and Hudson Kammerer; Alec (Lauren), Lauren (Jacob) Unger and Madisen Kammerer; Lia and Reese Kammerer. Additionally, Ron was loved by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Ron was known by many and cherished by all.
Memorial services with military honors will be held at 10:00 A.M., on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Searcy Funeral Home and Crematory, Enterprise, Alabama. A gathering for family and friends will be held at Mural City Coffee in Dothan after the service. Donations can be made in his honor to the American Cancer Society.
