Mamie Nell Brooks, 68, a resident of Midland City passed away Monday, October 6, 2014 at a local hospital.
Funeral services will be 11am Friday, October 10, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 10-11am prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mamie Nell Brooks was born to Isaac and Gussie Brooks on June 23, 1946 in Dale County where she lived until her death. She Joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Midland City Alabama at an early age. She attended M.M. Mathews High School and graduated in 1964. She was a dedicated employee of Sony Magnetic Plant until she retired in 2006. Mamie was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.
She preceded in death by her parents and her brother Jesse (Nick). She leaves to cherish her memories three sisters, Edna Brooks, JoAnn Jackson, Sharon Gibson; two brothers, Willie James, James (Betty) Brooks; two stepbrothers and six stepsisters; one special brother and two sisters; seven nieces, Pam, Felicia, Rhonda, Nicole, Danielle, Matasha, Carla; Eight Nephews, Donnivan, Robert Jr., Anthony, Kristen, Brandon, Eric, K.T., Kendrick; an aunt Louella Kennedy of Albany, GA and three uncles, J.C. Curry of Midland City, Thomas Brooks of New Jersey, Albert (Doris) Taylor; a host of family and friends.
