Mancil Eugene Powell of Ozark passed away Thursday, April 10, 2014 at Ozark Health and Rehabilitation. He was 81.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014, from the chapel of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home with Chaplain Kathy Stumbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery in Ozark under the direction of Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home of Ozark. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until service time. At all other times, the family will receive friends at the home of Wayne and Dianne Cobb.
Mr. Powell was born on March 13, 1933 in Dale County, Alabama, to the late John C. and Dazzie Woodard Powell. He had a talent for brick masonry, and worked as a brick mason his entire life. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a step-son, Lewis Ripley McLendon; brothers, Argus Powell, Bernice Powell, Lantie Bob Powell; sisters, Agnes Teal, Janice West, and Levice Cobb.
Mancil is survived by his wife of 43 years, Pauline Danner Powell of Ozark; step-daughters, Wendy McLendon of Ozark, Arlene Cole of Mississippi, Darlene Woodson of Mississippi; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
