Margaret Ann Devevo, age 93, passed away on Saturday, August 24, with her Family by her side. With a fiery spirit and servants’ heart, Margaret entered the world in Jacksonville, Florida on 22 March 1931, she was the daughter of the late Kelly Hutto and Anthnoy Devevo. Margaret spent half her life growing up in Jacksonville working her first career in the fiberglass industry. She subsequently moved to Stockbridge, Georgia, where she met her late husband Andy Rodgers whom she shared over 40 years of marriage.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, at Sorrells Funeral Home Chapel, 4550 Boll Weevil Circle, Enterprise AL 36330. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 4:00 PM. The service will be livestreamed via Sorrells Funeral Home & Crematory’s Facebook page, not Sorrells Funeral Homes website.

Working her entire life since the age of 13, Margaret was the ultimate Servant Leader, with the heart of a lion, true grit and incredible tenacity. After her fiberglass career, she transitioned to the Georgia public school system where she was a Light of Christ caring and feeding for countless kids to include serving as a school bus monitor for over 40 years working till the age of 87. Possessing a profound work ethic, she also balanced a dual career working at Walmart Department store for over 10 years.

She had many names, such as Nanny, Granny, Grandma, Gammy and Sugar. Margaret loved Gospel and Praise and worship music, she was wittier than ever and could give the punches as much as she could take them. Her greatest name though, was that she was known as a mighty Child of God. She was a beacon of hope for so many and she was the last surviving sibling of 7 children that included, the Late Tony, Edmond, Mary (Sissy), Madonna, Billy, and Juan Devevo.

With a large family she had unbreakable bonds with her nieces and nephews whom all supported her with countless Prayers and Love until her very last breath. But her greatest Joy was in her four daughters, the late Ann Stripling, Carol Corbitt, and her surviving daughters Martha Mullenix and Lessie Lovett.

Margaret has 6 grandchildren, Tammy Byerley, Missy Jenison, David Lovett, Marcus Mullenix, the late Raymond Lovett, the late Bobby Lovett, Jimmy Lovett, Sarah Thompson, Christopher Stripling, and Zachary Stripling; and 8 great-grandchildren, Marissa Iacino, Colten Jenison, Clayton Jenison, Sophia Jenison, Maddie Mullenix, Karaline Mullenix, Kennedy Thompson, Dax Thompson
