Margaret Emma “Doll” Holland Daughtry of Hartford passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013. She was 86.


Funeral services will be held at 2:30pm Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Hartford with Bro. Jimmy Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Hartford City Cemetery under the direction of Jimmy Bottoms of Bottoms Garden Chapel Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends one hour to the services at the church.


In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.


She was born January 27, 1927, in Geneva, AL to parents Henry Ashley and Anibel N. Holland. Margaret was lovingly called “Doll” Holland by her Geneva friends and Holland Family. Margaret graduated from Geneva High School and attended business courses at Napier Field, AL. After she married Bill Daughtry of Hartford, AL, she resided on the Daughtry farm in the High Bluff community outside of Hartford. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Hartford, taught many years of children Sunday school classes and vacation bible school, and in later years was a member of the Mustard Seeds bible study class. Margaret had a long career as a stenographic typist and retired from the State of Alabama Department of Human Resources (Pensions and Securities.) After retirement she enjoyed being an active member of the Hartford Homemakers Club and Red Hat Club, traveling and camping with her husband, and taking care of her beautiful daylilies and flowers.


She was preceded in death by her husband, William F. “Bill” Daughtry, Sr.; brothers, Henry A. Holland, Jr. (Elsie) and Robert H. Holland; grandson, Matthew William Likos.


She is survived by her son, William F. “Frank” Daughtry, Jr. (Connie) of Pensacola, FL.; daughter, Ann D. Fox (Johnny) of Birmingham, AL.; grandsons, Nicholas Likos (Barbara) of Lexington, KY, Jay Fox of Atlanta, GA, and Connor Fox of Tuscaloosa, AL.; sisters-in-law, Mary Charles Holland of Decatur, AL, and Mary Lou Loftin of Mobile, AL.; one niece and five nephews; several great nieces and nephews.
