Mrs. Margaret Stanford Howell, 88, passed away peacefully May 26, 2019, at Wesley Place in Dothan.
She was born August 18, 1930, in Dale County to A J and Effie Stanford. The family moved to Black, Al, where she attended school, then to Geneva. Later she received her LPN degree from Wallace College in Dothan. Margaret worked at Wiregrass Hospital in Geneva, Gibson Hospital in Enterprise, and retired from Lyster Hospital at Ft. Rucker. Before moving to Wesley Place, she was a long-time resident of Chancellor, and an active member of El Bethel Baptist Church.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother, sister, nurse and friend to many. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Nathan and Curtis, and her husband, Robert Howell, in 2008.
Survivors include two children: Jimmy Searcy of Tallahassee; Ann Searcy Pepper (Jimmy) of Dothan; five grandchildren: Kevin Searcy (Heidi) of Dothan, Jennifer Searcy Kennedy (Scott) of Dothan, Amanda Searcy Dal Santo of Tallahassee, Ashley Pepper Brock (Adam) of Dothan, Tripp Pepper of Batesville, Mississippi; eight great-grandchildren: Brooke Searcy of Birmingham, Lauren Searcy of Dothan, Searcy Dal Santo and Wiley Dal Santo of Tallahassee, Abbie Kate Kennedy and William Kennedy of Dothan, Kelsey Hovey and Cameron Hovey of Dothan; her brother, Billy Stanford (Linda) of Geneva and their children, Vicki Bess, Anji King; one sister-in-law, Faye Stanford, Geneva and her daughter, Stephanie White.
The funeral will be Friday, May 31, 2019, 2:00 PM, at El Bethel Baptist Church in Chancellor, with the Bro. David Hingson officiating. Burial following at El Bethel Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. Visitation will be Thursday, May 30, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends at the church on Friday beginning at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to El Bethel Baptist Church, 9432 N. State Highway 27, Chancellor, AL 36316.
The family wishes to thank the Staff and Residents of South Hall at Wesley Place for their care and support of our Mother during the last 3 years, as well as Cindy with Encompass Hospice during the last week.
