Margaret Mitchell Bennett, 85, of Dothan, passed away Thursday, February 20th, at her home.
Margaret was born in Troon, Scotland in 1928. After graduating from the University of Edinburgh she taught elementary school. In 1953 she married Henry Sinclair Bennett, an Air Force Officer from Dothan, Alabama, and came to the United States in 1954. They were married for 42 years.
Margaret was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her hobbies included collecting antiques, the Garden Club, playing bridge and bowling.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Henry S. Bennett, her parents, Jean McConnachie and William Alexander Mitchell and brother William Norman Mitchell.
She is survived by her three daughters, Rosalyn Jones, Pamela Waterworth, Dothan, and Suzanne (Wallace) Johnson, Shalimar, Florida, a brother, Ian (Grace) Mitchell, Scotland, a sister, Irene Mitchell, Canada, a sister-in-law, Grace Mitchell, England, four grandchildren, Darris Johnson (Ryan) Hartman, Drue Johnson Needler, Hailey Rhiannon (Tim) Lewis, Fort Walton, Florida, and Glenn Allen (Amanda) Waterworth, Little Rock, Arkansas, eight great-grandchildren, Layla, Harper, Marlowe, Ella, Trent, Shelby, Charlotte, Madelynn, and several neices and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 22th, at Ward-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 a.m.. Pastor Paul Roten of Dothan will be officiating. Margaret will be laid to rest at Gardens of Memories Honor section, with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.
