AVON, ALABAMA. . .Margarette Skinner Austin, a resident of Avon, Alabama, died early Wednesday afternoon, June 12, 2024, in the Graceville Health Center. She was 84.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 14, 2024, in Memory Hill Cemetery, Dothan, with Reverend Mickey Skinner officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Austin was born and raised in Barbour County, near Blue Springs, daughter of the late Shellie Lee Skinner and Vela Mae Baxley Skinner. She lived in Rehobeth before moving to Avon twenty-four years ago. Mrs. Austin worked as a sewing machine operator in various textile factories in southeast Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, O’Neal Austin and two sons, Devon Forehand and Danny Faircloth.
Surviving relatives include her daughters, Darlene Ham (Steve), Grangerburg; Debra Cherry, Rehobeth; and Diane Bryce (Keith) of Louisiana; a son, James Riley (Mary), Headland; a brother, Shelby Skinner (Rhydona), Abbeville; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
