Margie Dodson

A graveside service to honor the life of Margie Dodson will be held at 1pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024 at the Bluff Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Brother James Bell will officiate the service. Following the service, the family will gather in the cemetery to share memories and celebrate Margie's remarkable journey through life.

Margie Dodson, a beacon of unwavering love and faith, departed from this world on October 3, 2024, after an extended illness. Born on June 25, 1935, in the warm embrace of Dothan, Alabama, Margie's life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to all who knew her.

Margie's journey began as the daughter of Thomas and Annie Ray, and she grew up alongside her sisters, Maxine Ray and Wilma May. Her early years set the stage for a life filled with compassion and dedication to those she loved. Margie found her soulmate in Joe Earl Dodson, who preceded her in death. Together, they built a life centered on family and community, a legacy that continues to flourish through their daughters, Deb (Mark) Kight and Becky Dodson.

Her role as a homemaker was one she embraced with every fiber of her being, pouring her love into every meal prepared and every hug given. Margie's grandchildren, Matt (Ana) Kight, Brewer Kight, and Jade (Kasey Sampson) Dodson, were the apples of her eye, and she was a cornerstone in their lives. Her great-grandchildren, JaLynne, DeLayne, Benzley, Kalli, Andrew, Colby James, and Cooper, will carry forward the warmth and kindness that Margie exemplified in her every action.

Margie's life was deeply rooted in her faith, and she was an active and devoted member of the Bluff Springs Baptist Church. Her love for God was evident in her service as a Sunday school teacher and her involvement in Vacation Bible School. Her Bible, filled with notes and reflections, was a symbol of her spiritual journey and the love she had for the Word. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also," a verse from Matthew 6:21, captures the essence of Margie's life—a life rich in love and faith.

Margie's spirited nature shone brightly through her love for Alabama Football, a passion that brought her joy and excitement. She was loving and independent, a woman of great spirit and conviction. Her stubbornness, a trait that served her well, showed her determination to live life on her terms, with a strong will and a loving heart.

Those who knew Margie will remember her for her spirited, faith-filled presence. She was a woman who cherished the simple pleasures of life, from the joy of a good book to the laughter of her grandchildren. Her influence and teachings will live on through the many lives she touched.
