Margurite Baker of Ozark, Alabama, died Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Dale Medical Center. She was 64.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 24, 2016 at 3:00 pm at First Missionary Baptist Church in Ozark. Burial will follow in Union Grove Cemetery with Fuqua-Bankston Funeral Home directing.
Born in Ozark on September 4, 1951, Margurite was the oldest daughter of Amos and Johnnie Mae McLeod. She was educated in the Ozark School System and Selma University. On January 16, 1973 she married Johnny Wayne Baker, Sr. She was a member of Allen Chapel AME Church in Skipperville. Mrs. Baker made her life’s profession to be a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.
Mrs. Baker was preceded in death by her parents, and her father and mother in-law, John E. and Macey Sally Baker, of Mineral Springs, NC.
She is survived by her husband, Johnny W. Baker, Sr., of Ozark; one daughter, Amy (Julian) Booker of Gardendale, AL; two sons, Johnny Wayne Baker, Jr. and DeRaaen Baker, both of Ozark; one sister, Marilyn McLeod Johnson of Ozark; three brothers, Leon McLeod (Christine) of Fort Valley, GA, Nelson Jacob (Sheila) McLeod, and Kenneth “Kenny” McLeod, both of Ozark; two grandchildren, Hayden Alexander Booker and Morgan Julia Booker.
