Maria Rocco, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017. She was 88.

A Mass will be held at 11 am on Saturday, March 11, 2017 in the Chapel at St. Columba Catholic Church.

Mrs. Rocco was born in May, 1928 in a small town in Puerta Rico. Maria later moved to New York to raise her only daughter, Maria. She became active in the Latin community and helped to organize a few of the Latin American parades down Fifth Avenue in New York. She worked as a jewelry consultant for over twenty-five years until she retired and moved to Dothan to be close to her daughter. She was known for her love of music, dance, and making people laugh. Once someone got to know her they knew that she was a genuine loving and kind hearted person.

She'll be dearly missed by her surviving daughter, Maria Alonso and by her nieces, Emily Garcia, Nora Lathwell, Emily Costa, and Melissa Costa.
