KINSEY. . .Marie Brooks Sanders, a resident of Kinsey, died early Wednesday morning, August 28, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. She was 70.


            Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 30, 2024, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Brad Hardy officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Friday at the mortuary in Headland.


            Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity.


            Marie Sanders was born in Milledgeville, Georgia, daughter of the late James Brooks and Mary Helen Durden Brooks. She lived in Kinsey most of her lifetime. Marie was a member of Kinsey Baptist Church. She was formerly employed by Dothan Manufacturing Company and Russell Athletics in Columbia. Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph B. “Joe” Sanders and a brother, James Brooks.


            Surviving relatives include her daughters, Connie Watkins (Eddie), Ashford; and Tina Hughes (Stephan), Ashford; a sister, Martha Fuller, a brother, Robert Brooks and a sister-in-law, Cathy Brooks, all of Milledgeville, GA; grandchildren, Wesley Watkins, Hannah Doswell (Austin), Peyton Watkins, Jonathan Hughes, Trevor Hughes and Bailey Hughes; numerous nieces and nephews.
