Marie Louise “Lou” Davis Smith of Geneva, AL passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at her home. She was 89 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Geneva with Reverend Dr. Edwin Scott, and Rev. Steve Skidmore officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home of Geneva directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 19, 2021 form 5:00 until 7:00 p.m.
The family kindly requests those who are planning to attend the services to please wear a facial covering and practice social distancing due to the ongoing pandemic.

Lou was born on June 6, 1931 to James Benjamin Davis, Sr. and Marie Lawhon Davis, in Eunola, Alabama. She was a 1949 graduate of Geneva High School. Her first job was in the office of Geneva Stockyards where she worked as a bookkeeper. She continued working the sale days for many years. She began her career at the Citizens Bank of Geneva in 1961, retiring after 32 years, affectionately known as “Miss Lou” to her many friends and customers. After her retirement, she fulfilled her lifelong dream of travel including trips to many different states, as well as countries in Europe. She also spent several summers working at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming and Denali National Park in Alaska where she made many new lifelong friends. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Abb R. Smith, Sr.; siblings, James Benjamin Davis, Jr. and Mary Nell (John) Wilkerson.
She is survived by her children, Marie Smith, Geneva and Abb R. Smith, Jr. (Renee’) of Weatherford, TX; grandchildren, Michael (Amy) Riddle, Cecilia (Charles) Ciccarelli all of Dothan; Audra (Grant) Morris of Aledo, TX; Rachel Crosby of Geneva; Cheyanne (Nathan) Price of Aledo, TX; great-grandchildren: Bruno and Bodee Ciccarelli, Aara Crosby, Kimber and Barrett Morris, Pierce Martin, Logan and Patton Price, and Davis Riddle. Also, her longtime friend and caregiver, Elaine Galloway.
The family would like to express their appreciation to caregivers Faye Bryan, Rhonda Stone and Anne McClenny; Center Home Health caregivers Shunda, Becky, Sarah, Renee, Gwen, and Christina, for their excellent care, love and support these past few months, and to the entire staff of Kindred Hospice this past week.
Memorial contributions in her honor, may be made to the First Baptist Church of Geneva; MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, TX; or Children’s Hospital of Birmingham.
Serving as pallbearers will be Johnny Register, Pratt Faulk, Ricky Beck, Bud Howell, Murdock Smith, and Bruno Ciccarelli.
