MARILYN MILLER LEWIS
HEADLAND. . .Marilyn Miller Lewis, a resident of Headland, died Saturday morning, January 27, 2018, at her home. She was 89.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 29, 2018, in the Balkum Baptist Church with Reverend Joey Hudspeth and Reverend Doug Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in the Balkum Cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the church sanctuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to C.H.A.R.M., P.O. Box 216, Headland, AL 36345.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Lima, Ohio, daughter of the late Dale Garner Miller and Flossie Mae Berryhill Miller. She lived in Florida before moving to Henry County in 1993. Mrs. Lewis was a graduate of Brewton-Parker High School, Mt. Vernon, GA. She received a B. S. Degree, a Master’s Degree, a Doctorate in Philosophy and a Doctorate in Christian Education from Freedom University. Mrs. Lewis and her late husband, founded the Christian Awareness Ministries. She was a member of the Balkum Baptist Church and formerly served as the teacher of the Joy Sunday School Class. Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Oscar Lewis, D.M., and a brother, David Hempker.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Coleen Lewis Beasley (Terry), Headland; two grandsons, Lance Beasley (Michelle), Dothan; and Keith Beasley (LeAnne), Headland; five great-grandchildren, Shelby, Jackie, Hailey, Ryan and Justice Beasley; several nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Curry Parker, Kirby Shelley, Buford Kimbrell, Kent Scott, Jason Harris and Jamey Shelley.
