A Celebration of Life service will be on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva with Jake Paul and Gary Grantham delivering the eulogy. Marsha was born on May 12, 1950 in Frankfurt, Germany to the late Daniel Solomon and Ella Matthews McLeod. She was a 1967 graduate of Geneva High School and a member of the GHS Band for six years. After graduation, she attended the University of Montevallo where she graduated with a master’s degree, pursued theater and the arts. Marsha was a woman of strong faith, loved the Lord, her family and closest friends. She was affectionately known as “Wolf” by her nephews, from the days of their youth. She would read “Three Little Pigs” to them and act out the story as she read, earning her the new name, being the avid reader and lover of books, that she was. Those closest to her would testify to her free spirit, deep, passionate strength in what she believed and a resilience to keep fighting, beyond all obstacles. She will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmothers, Ida Matthews and Florence McLeod; and a nephew, Terry John “TJ” Brooks, Jr.
Marsha is survived by her loving and devoted sister, Linda McLeod Brooks of Geneva; nephews, Daniel George Wright (Erica) of Geneva and Andrew James Wright (Elicia) of Guntersville, AL; great nieces and nephews, Eli Wright of England, Braxton Wright of Geneva, Deanna Wright Aughtman (Matt), Noah Wright and Emmy Wright, all of DeFuniak Springs, FL, Brooke Helms and Hunter Helms, both of Bonifay, FL and a great niece, Allie Aughtman of DeFuniak Springs, FL; and a host of friends, who were very dear to her heart.
