DOTHAN, AL… Martha Ann Brogden Hughes, a resident of Dothan, Alabama, passed away early Saturday, August 26, 2023, at her son’s residence in Ozark, Alabama. She was 85.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, August 30, 2023, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery, with Reverend Josh Alderman officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until 10:30 A.M. at Wright Funeral Home & Crematory. Wright Funeral Home & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
The family is accepting flowers or contributions may be made to the Timbers Drive Church, 1461 Timbers Drive, Dothan, Alabama 36301.
Mrs. Hughes was born in Dothan, Alabama to the late Richard H. Brogden and Midred Skipper Brogden. She lived her entire life in Dothan, Alabama until her health moved her to live with her son in Ozark, Alabama. She worked with the Civil Service at Fort Rucker as a communication clerk. After her retirement from the Civil Service she worked grading peanuts for various peanut warehouses. She loved gospel music. She was a member of the Timbers Drive Church.
Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Hughes.
Leaving to cherish her memories are her sons, Greg Hughes (Kim) and David Hughes (Jessie); her sister, Lougenia Sheppard; and her grandsons, Blake Hughes, Logan Hughes, Jacob Hughes, and Henry Hughes; and a very special friend/caregiver, Athena Tanton.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you, for the care and compassion shown to Mrs. Hughes and their family, through this difficult time.
