Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 4:00 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Benny Lindsey and Pastor Aubrey Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Pinckard Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
Martha Ann Deal, a resident of Midland City, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at her residence after her courageous battle with cancer. She was 76.
Martha was born on March 18, 1947 to the late Johnie and Jewel Woodham Corley in Dothan, Alabama at the old Flowers Hospital. She attended Dale County High School and graduated in 1965. After high school, she worked in the childcare industry for over 20 years with both Fairyland Daycare and Mother Goose Daycare. Later, she worked at Walmart as the personnel manager and training coordinator for 25 years before her retirement. Martha was very family oriented and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandsons. She enjoyed attending all of their sporting events and activities. She enjoyed spending time in her yard and was known for her green thumb and excelled in gardening. She could often be found in the yard cutting grass, just enjoying her flowers or sitting in her swing. Martha was a member of Dothan First Assembly of God Church.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Johnie and Jewel Woodham Corley; her brothers, John Earl Corley and Johnie Corley, Jr.; her sister, Linda Corley; and her brother-in-law, Mitchell Parmer.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Jessie Deal; her daughter, Denise (Heath) Macko; her son, Josh (Crystal) Deal; her grandchildren, Holly (Levi) Bridges, Bailee Deal, Bronner Deal (also acting as honorary pallbearer) and Alaina Deal; her great-grandsons, Emerson Bridges and Brooks Bridges; her sisters, Jean Parmer, Nancy Jenkins, Becky (Alvin) Bright and Margie (Roger) Turvin; and several nieces and nephews.
