COLUMBIA, ALABAMA. . .Martha Atkeson Bronar, a resident of Columbia, Alabama, died Sunday morning, January 24, 2021, in the Cape Canaveral Hospital, Cocoa Beach, Florida. She was 97.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 P.M. (CST) Wednesday, January 27, 2021, in the Columbia City Cemetery with Reverend Harry Barrow officiating. The family will receive friends following the graveside services. Social distancing guidelines and masks will be observed. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Bronar was born and reared in Columbia, daughter of the late Thomas Zephaniah Atkeson and Nina Bernice Beach Atkeson. She was a graduate of Huntingdon College where she received a degree in Education. Mrs. Bronar was a member of the Columbia Presbyterian Church and attended the Newnan Presbyterian Church, Newnan, Georgia. She lived in Macon, Georgia and Cocoa Beach, Florida before returning to Columbia in 1980. Mrs. Bronar was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Bronar, a sister, Cordelia Meek, and two brothers, Henry Beach Atkeson and Thomas Z. Atkeson.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Betsy Paddock (Bob), Cocoa Beach, Florida; a son, Robert P. (Bob) Bronar (Louise), Rockledge, Florida; her twin sister, Mary Weddington, Newnan, Georgia; two grandchildren, Robert T. Bronar (Tara), and Mary Shell (Brandon); six great-grandchildren, Isabella Liberatore, Kaya Bronar, Alina Bronar, Lincoln Bronar, Ruby Shell and Zoey Shell.
