Obituary: Martha Jean Clements
Martha Jean Clements, 88, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2020, at Moultrie Creek Nursing Facility in St. Augustine, FL. She was born to John and Evie Enfinger on January 18, 1932, in Geneva, AL. She graduated from Wicksburg High School in 1950. She lived the majority of her life in Dothan, AL.
Martha married the late Van Clements Jr in 1954 and enjoyed 56 years of marriage. She is survived by three children: Greg Clements (Tami) of St. Augustine, FL; Starla Franklin (Jerry) of Pensacola, FL; David Clements of Emmonak, Alaska. She is also survived by five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Martha was predeceased by her loving husband in 2011.
Martha was an active member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Dothan, AL, and the community of Bay Springs which she lived for 40 years. She faithfully served in leadership positions in various church ministries: Primary Sunday School Superintendent, Junior Church teacher, Young Married Sunday School Class Assistant, Women Nationally Active for Christ Organization, and Adult Choir. She also enjoyed participating in the Home Demonstration Club in her community.
Martha lived up to her name, in that, she had a servant’s heart and was busy serving the needs of those around her. She passed that same compassion for others on to her children and grandchildren. She left a humble legacy as a prayer warrior for the needs of everyone she knew, and the love of Jesus she shared with everyone she met. One of her favorite pastimes was visiting with friends and family, especially the elderly. Martha loved her extended family and never missed a celebration with her many family members. Her family has great peace in knowing that she now enjoys the greatest celebration of all – Heaven.
The family has planned a private graveside service. They request that donations be made to your choice of an Alzheimer research organization in lieu of flowers.
