Martha Louise Hill, 84, a resident of Palmetto, GA, formerly of Dothan, AL passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at her residence.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Parks Chapel AME Church with Rev. Kummel Fleming and Rev. Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing.

Martha Louise Fleming Hill was born October 2, 1931 in Enterprise, AL to Sarah V. Donald and V.C. Fleming. She later moved to Dothan, AL and attended North Highland School and Daniel Payne College. She married Howard Hill and traveled as an Army wife and returned to live in Dothan. She was definitely a Renaissance woman; everyone referred to her as Ms. Martha and she would always have food to eat or a place to stay if one needed it. She wore many hats in her lifetime; she worked in hospitality, studied mortuary science, was a certified brick mason, laid carpet, practiced cosmetology, and could fix anything with a hammer or screw driver. She found her niche at The Alabama State Laboratory where she was a Laboratory Technician for over twenty-five years until her retirement. Her door was always open to anyone in need. She was a member of The Eastern Star and a member of the Daughter Elks. She also loved playing bingo at the Elks Club or wherever there was a game. A lifetime member of Parks Chapel AME Church where she worked diligently throughout her life until failing health required that she moved to live with her daughter, Sara, in Georgia. She will be greatly missed as she leaves her earthly home to join her parents, sister and brother, and her beloved Howard in heaven.

Those who mourn her: her son, Donald Weatherington of La Grange, GA; her daughters, Sara Hill of Chattahoochee Hills, GA, and Valerie Hill of Riverdale, GA; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, aunt, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of extended family members who loved her dearly which included her "sister-cousins," Lucy M. Lagree & Dorothy Ruffin.

Acknowledgments: The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and support staff of Gentiva Hospice. Special thanks and love to Marie E. Hill, who was her caregiver and roommate during her declining years who helped us take care of our mother until the very end. The love and care shown was without question an act of love and dedication. Also Michelle Hilsman who maintained mama's home in Dothan and always had it prepared with love when we came to Dothan. The love that these two showed was above and beyond. The family would like to thank all of you who helped us in our time of grief. There are so many, too numerous to name. You know who you are and we love you.
