HEADLAND…Martha Thompson McDaniel, a resident of Headland, died Sunday night, March 20, 2022. She was 81.


Funeral services will be held at  2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 23, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Ruth Jones officiating. Burial will follow in  Gardens of Memory. The family  will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.  Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangement


Martha McDaniel  was born in Houston County, near Pansey, daughter of the late Mager Taft Thompson and Annie Mae Wood Thompson. She lived in Dothan before moving to Headland in 2013.  Ms. McDaniel was formerly employed in home health care as a caregiver.


 She was preceded in death by a son, Willie Taft Cook, two sisters, Irelle Ramage and Mack Ellen Hughes, and four brothers, Gene Thompson, Hayward Thompson, Rex Allen Thompson and  Billy Joe Thompson


Surviving relatives include three daughters, Joyce Lynn Simmons (Special friend, Brenda McDonald), Headland; Rebecca Esau (Special friend, Kim Collelo), Acworth, GA; and Tammy McDaniel Marlow (Howard), Kennesaw, GA; four sons, Randy Cook (Tammy), Headland; Robert Mitchell (Tiffany), Midland City; Jeff Mitchell, Headland; and Dewayne McDaniel (Melissa), Midland City; a sister, Vivian Hicks, Dothan; two brothers,  Johnny Thompson (Eleanor), Headland; and Dennis Thompson, Dothan;  sisters in law, Carol Thompson, and Dorothy Thompson; numerous grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
