Martin Kush

Martin Kush, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, in Newton, Alabama. Born on October 31, 1953, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Martin's life was a testament to his faith, wisdom, and love for his family and community.

Martin, known affectionately to those around him simply as Marty, is survived by his loving wife of many years, Janie Kush. He was a devoted father to his sons, Jonathan Kush and Jeremy Kush, and a doting grandfather to Oliver Kush. He also leaves behind his caring brother, Bruce Kush, and his dear sister, Pauline Blasco, along with many nieces and nephews who will miss his guidance and warmth. Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Anton Kush and Marianne Stafford, who instilled in him the values of integrity and compassion that he carried throughout his life.

Martin's finished high school and studied law at Dickinson College, a time when he began to forge his path in the world with determination and a clear sense of purpose. He worked at Farley Nuclear Plant before transitioning to a fulfilling career at Michelin, from which he eventually retired. His professional life was marked by a strong work ethic and a keen analytical mind.

Beyond his work, Martin was deeply involved in his church, Harvest Church of Dothan. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he expressed it through actions, most notably through The March for Jesus, which touched the lives of many in his community. Martin's dedication to his faith was unmistakable and inspired those around him to seek a deeper connection with their spirituality.

A man of the outdoors, Martin found solace and joy in camping and being close to nature. His love of the wilderness was a reflection of his appreciation for the world's beauty and the creator he so faithfully worshipped. He also had a profound love for reading and a passion for jazz music.

Martin's life was a mirror of the words that best described him: faith-filled, analytical, and wise. His faith guided him in every decision, his analytical nature allowed him to solve problems with grace, and his wisdom was generously shared with all who sought his counsel. Martin was a beacon of light and stability, not only for his family but also for his extensive network of friends and community members.

As we bid farewell to Martin, we celebrate the legacy he leaves behind—a legacy of love, faith, and wisdom. His life was a journey of devotion, both to his family and to the greater good. Martin's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his influence will ripple through the generations to come.
