Martin Lewis Williams, a resident of Columbia, was called home to be with his loving wife, Elaine, on Thursday morning, July 9, 2015, in the Signature HealthCARE of North Florida in Graceville. He was 88.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 11, 2015, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Dr. Walter Reeder officiating. Burial will follow in the Columbia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 P.M. at the mortuary in Headland.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Columbia United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 188, Columbia, AL 36319.
A lifelong resident of Henry County, near Columbia, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Albert Lewis Williams and Annie Mae Skelton Williams. He was a 1945 graduate of the Houston County High School in Columbia and attended Pensacola Trade School where he received a certificate in electrical engineering. An active member of the Columbia United Methodist Church, Mr. Williams formerly served on the Administrative Board and in various other church activities. A lifetime member of the Columbia Masonic Lodge No. 135, he was presented a fifty year membership pin in 1999. A retired farmer, Mr. Williams was a member of the Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, the Henry County Cattlemen’s Association and was a former member of the Wiregrass Hog Producers Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine Whatley Williams.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Kathy W. Holer (Tom), Dothan; a son, Martin Lynn Williams (Barbara), Columbia; three grandchildren, Brandi Williams Davis, Daniel Lynn Williams and Amy Holer Bell (Brad); and two great-grandchildren, Haley and Haiden Davis.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Glen Will, Patrick Will, Sammy Williams, Daniel Williams, Brad Bell and Steve Thomas.
