Marty W. Ogburn, 56, of Newton passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 at his residence.


Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park with Rev. Michael Gibson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 1-2pm.


Marty was born October 14, 1958 in Enterprise, Alabama. He was a graduate of Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. Marty served in the U.S. Army for 29 years and retired from the military in 2005 with the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was employed with the U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center at Fort Rucker, Alabama as the Aviation Safety Training Division Chief.


Survivors include his wife, Terri Ogburn; two daughters, Holly Ogburn and Kaitlin Ogburn; his mother, Imogene Ogburn of Newton; his brother, Terry (Sherri) Ogburn; his sisters, Lanetha Bass, Donna Dossett, Rhonda (Steve) Peterson, Wanda (Steve) Maxwell; his sister-in-law, Sharon (Rodger) Friend and numerous other nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
