Marvette “Magic Marv” Danzey, 60 of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022. He was born in Headland, Alabama to Marvin Jones, Jr. and Jewel Maybin on April 26, 1961. He went to school in Norwalk, CT and graduated from Brien McMahon High School.
Marvette is preceded in death by his parents Marvin Jones, Jr. and Jewel Maybin, and grandparents Marvin and Delphine Danzey of Headland, Alabama.
He is survived by son Marcus Sutton (Meriden, CT), grandsons Marcus Sutton, Jr. and Makai Sutton: Son Jordan Myron Cox (Myrtle Beach, SC) Jessica Ann, grandson Jordan Myron Cox, Jr. and granddaughter Joelle Avery Cox: Son Nicholas Denzel James (Camden, SC), grandsons Kamaree DaVeon James; Kadarious ZaMarion James, MarQarvious Ricardo Manning and granddaughter Kiera Jeter; Son Derek Tevin Cox (New Haven, CT), grandson Carter Kobe Cox. He also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Marvette enjoyed playing basketball. He earned the nickname “Magic Marv” by those who knew him best on the court and admired his creative movements and slick passes. He also enjoyed cooking and spent some of his career time as a chef. Marvette loved spending time with family and striking up conversations with everyone who encountered him. He had such a big heart and was compassionate towards everyone he knew. He loved his children and proudly spoke of them all.
Marvette’s footprints of his gentle spirit and kind soul will forever be remembered by family and friends in Alabama, Connecticut, and Florida; where he resided throughout his lifetime.
