OBITUARY
HOLMAN ABBEVILLE MORTUARY
MARVIN TURNER
ABBEVILLE. . .Marvin Turner, a resident of Abbeville, died early Thursday morning, August 29, 2013, at his home. He was 89.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 31, 2013, in the Judson Baptist Church with Reverend Gerald Ross officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Abbeville Mortuary is in charge of funeral arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Judson Baptist Church, c/o Marilynn Turner, 83 Kelsey Drive, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Mr. Turner was born and reared in the Edwin Community of Henry County, son of the late Jim Turner and Florence Free Turner. He lived most of his lifetime in Henry County and Abbeville. Mr. Turner was a member of the Judson Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was retired as the owner and operator of Turner Timber Company. Mr. Turner served five terms as a Henry County Commissioner. He was preceded in death by his wives, Ila Bell Chancey Turner, and Edna Puckett Turner, a son, Perry Tony Turner, a step-son, Foy Houston Deal, a grandson, Micheal Jones, and three sisters Ruby Curry, Maedell Williamson, and Eunice Makatura.
Surviving relatives include two daughters, Janet Shadell (Wayne), Abbeville; and Peggy Harris (James), Graceville; two sons, Lamar Turner (Marilynn), and Andy Turner (Brenda), all of Abbeville; a daughter-in-law, Joan Baker Turner, Abbeville; a step-daughter, Gail Fuller (Steve), two step-sons, Bill Puckett (Elizabeth), and Johnny Halstead (Donna); a brother, John ElvinTurner, Abbeville; nineteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren,and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Serving as active pallbearers will be grandsons, Chris Turner, Chris Jones, Wayne Shadell, Brandon Turner, Kasey Cox, and Brent Halstead.
