Mary Alice Grice of Enterprise, AL, passed away May 16, 2019 at the age of 95.
The services will be held at 2:00 Monday, May 20, 2019 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Brother Phil Cooley and Reverend Karl Hudson will be officiating the services. Burial will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery. In addition, Searcy Funeral Home will be directing the services. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
Mrs. Grice was born October 1, 1923, to the late Augustus (Gus) Russell and Jimmie Bryson Russell. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lunie L. Grice, four brothers, James, Randolph, Joe and Jack and two sisters, Sara and Myra, one daughter-in-law, Glenda Grice and a great-granddaughter, Brooke Ledford.
She is survived by three sons, Dewey L. Grice of Maurepas, LA, Lamar Grice and wife, Dora from Enterprise, AL, Jimmy Grice and wife, Lesia from Ozark, AL, and one daughter, Faye Grice Wilkes of Enterprise, AL; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and lots of nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Grice was a long time resident of the Mt. Pleasant community and a loyal, dedicated member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where she held numerous positions in the church. In addition, she was a loyal and devoted employee at J. C. Penney where she retired after numerous years of service. After her retirement from J. C. Penney she volunteered at Medical Center Enterprise where she enjoyed many years of service. Mrs. Grice loved to make divinity candy for many people in the church and elsewhere throughout the community. She was very active in the senior citizen center where she was involved in bowling, playing cards and going on numerous tour trips. She will be really missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the wonderful dedicated staff members of Enterprise Health and Rehab Center for their love and caring support for Mrs. Grice and her family. In addition, we would like to thank Kindred Hospice for their caring support during this trying time.
