GRIMES. . .Mary Ann Keel McAllister, a resident of Grimes, died Wednesday afternoon, October 5, 2022, in Westside Terrace. She was 78.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 8, 2022, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Don Clark and Reverend Jim Corley officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the mortuary in Headland.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church, 3480 Napier Field Road, Dothan, AL 36303.
Mrs. McAllister was born and reared in Grimes, daughter of the late Johnny James Keel and Mary Frances Smith Keel. She was a graduate of Midland City High School. She lived in Dothan many years before returning to Grimes in 2006. Mrs. McAllister was a charter member of the Rainbow Meadows Baptist Church where she participated in all church activities. She was retired from WalMart as a Support Team Manager. Mrs. McAllister also served as a substitute school teacher and teacher’s aide in the Dale County School System. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Joe McAllister.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Traci Hope McAllister, a son, Harry Jonathan McAllister (Kimberly), all of Grimes; two grandchildren, Amanda McAllister Thomley (Joey), and Alexander Patrick Lints, a great-granddaughter, Savannah Grace Thomley; a sister, Barbara Ann Sutton, Dothan; three brothers, Larry Keel (Patsy), Dothan; Johnny Keel, Midland City; and Byron Keel (Barbara), Grimes; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law from the McAllister family, Nell Johnson (Randall) and James Robert McAllister (Nancy), numerous nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Kevin Keel, Terrance Hiers, Jim Bob McAllister, Alex Dupree, David Kodish and Christian Conrad.
