DOTHAN…Mary Ann Shipes Worley, a resident of Dothan, died Sunday night, October 2, 2016, at her home. She was 74.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 5, 2016 in the Holman-Headland Mortuary Chapel with Reverend Philip Harrelson officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the mortuary.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Cottonwood Senior Citizens, P.O. Box 447, Cottonwood, Alabama 36320.
Mrs. Worley was born and reared in Barbour County, near Blue Springs, daughter of the late Coy Levi Shipes and Evie Mozelle Wilkinson Shipes. She lived in the Memphis Church community most of her adult lifetime. Mrs. Worley was a member of the Union Hill Baptist Church and participated in the Cottonwood Senior Citizens. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward “Slick” Worley, four sisters, Frances Kennedy, Mazelle Tew, Ellen Harden and Annie Belle Daughtry, and two brothers, J.V. Shipes and Coy O. Shipes.
Surviving relatives include a daughter, Beverly Kyzer, Cottonwood; four sons, Ed Worley (Michelle) and Tim Worley (Beverly), all of Dothan; Randy Worley (Tina), Cowarts; Anthony Wayne Worley (Regina), Cottonwood; three sisters, Imogene Stinson, Abbeville; Betty Jean Hagler (Gene), Blue Springs; and Lela Golden, Newville; a brother, Don Shipes, Dothan; a brother-in-law, Charles Harden, Cowarts; nine grandchildren, Tiffany Kyzer, Bobby Worley, Tyler Sloan, Miranda Elliott (Garrett), Shaun Worley, Zach Worley, Hannah Worley, Nicholas Worley, and Keith Schneider; three great-grandchildren.
The family would like to express their appreciation to SoutherCare Hospice, especially Bianca Hughes, for the loving care and kindness shown to Mrs. Worley during her illness.
