Mary Beth Miller of Dothan passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, in Birmingham. She was 7.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Van Clack officiating. Burial will follow at Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.

The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home from 10 to 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, March 26, 2013.

March 23, 2013 at 5:11am Mary Beth Miller received her angel wings. Mary Beth had a short life on this earth, but it was filled with smiles, laughter, plenty of hugs and providing inspiration to people all over the world.

From the very beginning Mary Beth through her life was an example of what true courage is and what a fighter she was. Being born premature at only 3.6 pds. And with a very complex heart condition. In her short 7 ½ years Mary Beth endured 6 open heart surgeries and over 340 medical procedures.

Always wanting to help the “Babies” Mary Beth and her family had the honor to be chosen as the 2008 ambassador family for the wiregrass division of the March of Dimes. She was honored again in 2009 to be selected as the State of Alabama ambassador child.

Then in 2011 Mary Beth and her family started working with Rep. Paul Lee to “help the babies” once again with pulse ox testing for congenital heart defects in newborns in Alabama. This became a regulation in Alabama on the day that Mary Beth came home from the hospital for the final time.

Mary Beth’s family’s prayers were answered by spending her final hour’s home with her family where she felt safe, surrounded by people she loved and that loved her. Mary Beth is no longer with us but she will live on in the hearts of the people whose lives she changed. Mary Beth is waiting to be reunited with her parents Mark and Stacee Miller, an older brother she adored Macon William Miller, grandparents Eleanor J. Miller, William (Bill) Coker, Cheryl Coker, Uncle Joe Derek Miller, numerous cousins and some very special friends Nikki and Terry Simmons, Kelli Pylant, Val Labbe, Matt and Nick. She was preceded in death by her grandfather Joe R. Miller, great-grandparents Dewey and Louise Coker, Macon and Ruth Miller, Harmon and Lula Bell Watford.

The family would like to say Thank You to all Mary Beth’s angels she met from her many hospital stays.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Snell, Derek Miller, Joe Brannon and Terry Simmons.

The family is asking in lieu of flowers that donations be made in Mary Beth’s name to the March of Dimes or American Heart Association’s Alabama Chapter.
