Mary Connie Benefield

Visitation Thursday October 10 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Columba Chapel Funeral and Mass Thursday October 10th at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Columba church. Burial will take place on Friday, October 11, 2024 at 2:00 pm in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Earlier the morning on October 8th, Mary Connie Benefield passed away painlessly and comfortably.

Mary was born in Bristol, Rhode Island on April 27, 1930, where she resided for 32 years before relocating in 1966 to Dothan with her husband George to be by his family . Her husband George served nobly 21 years in the U.S Navy.

Mary was a proud employee of Sony for 13 years in Dothan and would of course only purchase their products.

Mary and George were married 55 years before his passing. She was a devoted Catholic woman and a strong supporter of St Columba church.

To all who knew Mary, she was a fun, happy, active, caring and extremely kind person. Mary cherished her church, and her friends immensely and enjoyed her quality life at Grand South, where she rarely missed an activity. Least I forget her admiration for the World’s Greatest Football team.... Roll Tide!

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, George Benefield; her parents, Anthony and Mary Couto; her sister, Rosie Corvell; and her niece, Deborah Botellio.

Mary is survived by her sister Barbara Couto, who resides in Banning Ca., 4 nieces,1 nephew, 4 great nephews, 3 great nieces.

She smiled widely when discussing her childhood with her terrific loving parents Anthony and Mary whom she loved deeply her entire life.

We will all deeply miss this terrific lady who strived each day to be kind. The following arrangements have been made to honor Mary Connie Benefield.
